Dr Dunford was first introduced to chiropractic when he was injured while wrestling at 12 years of age. Unable to walk and carried into the clinic, he was thrilled to be able to walk out, almost pain-free(!) Throughout his teen years he experienced the power of chiropractic for various sports injuries and was able to give up his asthma medications after receiving spinal adjustments to his upper thoracic area. His passion for helping others experience a better quality of life led him to graduate from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1988. Dr Dunford considers it a privilege to be a chiropractor and after 35 years he enjoys taking post graduate classes and adding to his skill set in order to restore spinal mobility and optimal neurological function in his patient.s. Having completed a Fellowship in Chiropractic Pediatric care and certification in Webster Technique, Dr Dunford has been able to share the benefits of chiropractic with both children and expectant mothers. Among other techniques, ART (Active Release Techniques) has been an effective addition to spinal adjustments, mobilizations and other soft tissue therapies.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a chiropractor is caring for such a broad spectrum of patients. Dr Dunford has successfully treated patients of all ages with athletic injuries, repetitive strain/posture-related problems, musculoskeletal complaints (neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle/foot, etc.) on a daily basis in family practice.
On a personal note, Dr Dunford has lived in Sherwood Park since 1981 when his family moved from British Columbia. He attended the pre-med program at University of Alberta and then lived in Toronto for four years while at CMCC, returning to the Hamlet of Sherwood Park in 1988 and establishing his practice. He and his lovely wife, Jeannie, continue to enjoy community activities, going for walks in the park and socializing with friends and family. His family enjoys boating, wake-boarding, hiking and motorcycles. In fact, if you keep your eyes open early on a summer morning, you just might see him cruising Sherwood Park and the local countryside on his Yamaha Venture.
